The Common Information Sharing Environment (CISE) enables Cyprus and EU maritime domain to efficiently confront safety, security and marine environment protection challenges and support the further growth of the blue economy by encouraging collaboration and enabling better incident response coordination.

The Cyprus CISE group was formed aiming to study and development of a common information sharing environment that will be used by the Cypriot authorities to exchange information between them and between other European maritime related authorities. It is consisted of the following authorities:

    1. Shipping Deputy Ministry
    2. Naval Command, Ministry of Defense
    3. Department of Fisheries and Marine Research
    4. Port and Marine Police
    5. Joint Rescue Coordination Centre
    6. Department of Customs & Excise
    7. Cyprus Ports Authority

The Shipping Deputy Ministry, as the coordinator of the Cyprus CISE group, implements a project in which a Cypriot CISE node will be developed and connected to the EU CISE network. The Cyprus CISE Node acts as the central point where information from various maritime surveillance systems owned by Cypriot authorities are collected, further processed and presented in a single maritime picture, enhancing the operational capabilities of the authorities. In addition, maritime information can be exchanged between the CyCISE Node and the EU CISE network.

The budget of the project “Sea-CISE” is €470.000 and is funded under the Operational Programme «Thalassa» 2014-2020 by 75% and the Republic of Cyprus by 25%.
