1. Who needs a Cyprus Seafarer's Identification and Sea Service Record Book (SISRB)?
All seafarers serving on board Cyprus flag vessels must hold a valid Cyprus Seafarer’s Identification and Sea Service Record Book issued by Cyprus Maritime Administration.

The Cyprus Maritime Administration, in exceptional circumstances, may allow the employment on board Cyprus flag vessel, without a Seafarer’s Identification and Sea Service Record Book, of a person not engaged on board a ship in any capacity as part of the ship's complement, with designated safety or pollution, prevention duties or required by the vessel’s Document of Safe Manning. (i.e. Musicians, Entertainers).

2. How do I apply for the issue for a Cyprus Seafarer’s Identification and Sea Service Record Book (SISRB)?
In accordance with Law 108(I)/2000 as amended the company who will employ you on board Cyprus flagged vessel will apply through the electronic application system (eSAS) for your Cyprus Seafarer’s Identification and Sea Service Record Book.

Permanent residents of Cyprus may apply personally to the Headquarters of the Cyprus Maritime Administration using form EN05F01.

The application must be accompanied by the following documentation/ information.

  1. Two passport size photographs
  2. Copy of Identification document
  3. Copy of the Certificate of competency (if applicable)
  4. Photocopy of the Medical fitness certificate
  5. Written consent from the guardians of the applicant (if applicable)
  6. Report on contact and character
  7. Fees

3. Who needs an endorsement attesting the recognition of a non-Cyprus Certificate?
Endorsement attesting the recognition of a non-Cyprus Certificate is required for Masters, Chief Officers, Officers in charge of a navigational watch, Chief Engineers, Second Engineers, Officers in charge of an engine room watch, electro-technical officers, masters and officers holders of tanker’s training certificates of proficiency and GMDSS Radio Operators.

4. Which certificates must be endorsed by the Flag Administration (Cyprus Administration)?
In accordance with STCW.7/ Circ.1 the following Certificates must be endorsed by the Flag Administration (Cyprus Administration).

It should be noted that a separate endorsement attesting the recognition of a non- Cyprus Certificate is required for each of the aforementioned Certificates, if each Certificate is issued separately.

5. How do I apply for the issue of an Endorsement attesting the recognition of a non-Cyprus Certificate?
In accordance with Law 108(I)/2000 as amended the company who will employ you on board Cyprus flagged vessel will apply through the electronic application system (eSAS) for your Cyprus Endorsement.

Permanent residents of Cyprus may apply personally to the Headquarters of the Cyprus Maritime Administration using form EN05F02.

The application must be accompanied by the following documentation/ information.
  • Two passport size photographs.
  • A copy of the certificate and endorsement to be recognized.
  • Photocopy of the Medical fitness certificate.
  • Declaration regarding Cyprus legislation and national requirements.
  • Fees

Cyprus Maritime Administration will only examine applications for the issue of an Endorsement attesting the recognition of a non-Cyprus Certificate if the applicant is holding a valid Cyprus Seafarer’s Identification and Sea Service Record Book or if he has applied for the issue of such a Book.
