In case of accidental activation of the EPIRB/COSPAS-SARSAT alert (during maintenance, drills, port state or any other form of inspection), the JRCC–Larnaca must be contacted immediately.

Important Note: During the deletion process of a Cyprus Flag Vessel, it is strongly advisable to take all necessary actions to deactivate the details of the MMSI in the EPIRP/COSPAS-SARSAT and other equipment used for transmission of distress signals.

The investigation of marine accidents and incidents (for exceptions please see here) is carried out by the independent Marine Accident and Incident Investigation Committee (MAIC).
