The "SeaTecHub" project was approved for funding (100%) by the Horizon Europe program under the Excellence Hubs (Horizon-Widera-2022-Access-04) call of the European Union in January 2023 and commenced on 1 June 2023. The implementation of the project will last 4 years and its total budget is €5 million. The budget of the Shipping Deputy Ministry amounts to €165,950. The leading partner of the project is the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) and 14 entities in total from the public, academic and private sector participate in the project.

The main objective of SeaTecHub is to strengthen the innovation ecosystems of Cyprus and Croatia, focusing on eco-innovative technologies that promote the development of a sustainable blue economy through the healthy, safe and sustainable management of our seas and oceans, focusing on the sectors of:

1. Aquaculture and fisheries,
2. Smart ports,
3. Maritime security and protection,
4. Research and education, and
5. Maritime technologies.

Within the framework of the project, an attempt will be made to cover gaps in necessary knowledge about the sea and to collect new data and information about the marine environment, while at the same time an electronic supporting tool for Maritime Spatial Planning will be developed.
